| A paddle through the Sedge Islands surrounds you with images and sounds of unforgettable wildlife. Oyster Catchers, Egrets, Herons, Osprey, Terns, Terrapins and many species of fish create a habitat like no other. | The Sedge Islands in the southern part of the park are home to one of New Jersey's largest osprey colonies. Man made platforms provide an excellent nesting area for this magnificent bird of prey. Observe the osprey at the Spizzle Creek Bird Blind or join us on one of the kayak tours. Whether swimming in the ocean, walking the beach or trails, collecting shells, participating on a tour or simply enjoying the sun, the park is the place to be. | As the leaves begin to change, Island Beach is once again a painted landscape. This is the time that fishermen try catching a trophy striper or a big blue and compete for a prize in a tournament. It is the time for raptors and songbirds to begin their southerly migration. | A winter wonderland appears. Snow laden winds dust the landscape creating icy sculptures among the cedars and pines. Wintering over birds search through the thicket for any remaining berries. Male Cardinals and the red berries of the American Holly add the final touches of vibrant color to this tranquil setting. Take a quiet walk along one of our many trails or walk along the beach and feel the force of the North Atlantic.
